Rochester Hills, Michigan | August Intimate Backyard Wedding

Taylor and Corey’s intimate Michigan backyard wedding was so beautiful and 100% them. You have to be pretty special for me to photograph your wedding on my own wedding anniversary, and these two definitely are it. I knew they we’re a perfect match for me as clients, I think half of the conversations before Taylor booked me was about our cats! I first met Taylor and Corey at their engagement session this past spring, which was A BLAST! We walked around downtown Grand Rapids chatting about wedding planning, life and of course cats.

On my drive to Taylor’s aunt’s house, where the wedding was, it was downpouring! Finally when I got about 30 minutes away the storm broke up and the sun started peeking out. I walked into the house and said to Taylor that I brought the sunshine for her!

The wedding day went pretty smoothly, Corey’s reaction to seeing Taylor for the first time seriously melted my heart (yeah, I cried a bit). Their ceremony was short and sweet, and of course full of laughter. The reception was so much fun, everyone was out dancing and just having a good time with each other. Taylor told me that she wanted the Chicken Dance at her wedding, and of course it happened. It was probably the highlight of the reception with everyone in a big circle laughing and having a ton of fun.

I asked Taylor how her and Corey met and about their first date, “We met at Grand Valley State University, working on the grounds team. Our first official date was to the movies and then we walked around downtown Grand Rapids at night taking pictures of things.” I also had to ask about the proposal, “We took our first vacation together to Mackinac Island in October 2017 and were biking around the whole island. When we stopped on the side that faces the Mackinaw Bridge on the beach and Corey proposed.”

Taylor and Corey, I am so happy that I got to be there to witness the beginning of your next big adventure (and the fact we share a wedding anniversary date!) Thank you a million times over for being so incredible. Your friends and family are seriously so amazing and I absolutely loved being surrounded by them on your wedding day. Cheers to many more years of love and happiness!
