Romantic February Wedding at Saint John's Resort

Amy and Nathan’s February wedding at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth Michigan was my first wedding of the 2022 season. Their original date was May 2021, but with them both living out of state, they decided to postpone.

Saint John’s Resort has beautiful hotel rooms and hallways that made it easy to do most of the portraits indoors, including Amy and Nathan’s first look!

Their ceremony included the Indian traditions of the thali and manthrakodi. The thaali is a leaf shaped pendant with the threads from the Manthrakodi. The Thaali symbolizes mutual trust, love and commitment, and thus signifies the stability and permanence of marriage. The Manthrakodi is a silk saree which was placed on the Amy’s head by Nathan. It symbolizes the Groom's commitment to protect his wife, as well as a symbol of acceptance of the bride into the family of the groom.

After the ceremony, Amy had a surprise dress change and we went outside for a few quick photos in the snow before their grand entrance. For being the first time meeting these two in person, they were so easy to photograph - always smiling and you could just feel how much they are in love.

During the parent dances, they decided to do something a little different that I absolutely loved. Nathan danced with his mom, while Amy danced with her dad at the same time. Then, they did a second dance where Nathan danced with Amy’s mom and Amy danced with Nathan’s dad. It was a beautiful way to include all of their parents in the formal dances.

Before I left for the night, we popped outside again for a few night portraits. I am SO OBSESSED with how these turned out.
