Sunset Haldi Ceremony in St Joseph, Michigan
Jenny and Shaun’s wedding weekend in Southwest Michigan began with a meaningful Haldi ceremony on the shores of Lake Michigan at Silver Beach in St. Joseph. Traveling from Chicago with their closest family and friends, the couple chose to turn their celebration into a full three-day experience filled with tradition, connection, and time together.
The Haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding tradition in many Indian celebrations. On this occasion, close family members and friends gather to apply a turmeric paste, known as haldi, to the couple’s face, arms, and feet. The turmeric is believed to bring blessings, prosperity, and protection while symbolically preparing the couple for marriage. Jenny and Shaun chose to host their Haldi ceremony on Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Michigan, creating a beautiful lakeside setting to begin their wedding weekend.
After everyone had their turn applying the turmeric, Jenny and Shaun made their way into Lake Michigan to rinse it off (by running into the water of course!). With friends and family cheering from the shore, it was the perfect way to close out the evening on Silver Beach.
The celebration continued all weekend long with their Sangeet on Friday evening at Aria at the Whitcomb and their wedding day at Stonegate Manor on Saturday. I can’t wait to share more from their wedding weekend celebration.
