Sun-Drenched Engagement in Palm Springs, California

Jessica and Diego’s engagement session in Palm Springs was such a joy and a highlight of my February. Newly engaged, they made the trip from Huntington Beach, excited to celebrate this season with photos that felt uniquely them. Jessica and I envisioned a mix of playful, retro-inspired shots in Palm Springs’ iconic mid-century neighborhoods, followed by a more elevated, timeless look at the windmills as the sun started to set over the mountains.

We lucked out with gorgeous weather—77 degrees and perfectly comfortable for a February afternoon. I met Jessica and Diego in Old Las Palmas, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Palm Springs. Known for its stunning mid-century architecture, towering palm trees, and vibrant pops of color, it’s a dream backdrop for engagement photos. The quiet, walkable streets made it easy to explore, and the neighborhood’s charm gave their session a fun, relaxed energy.

Driving into Palm Springs from the 10, one of the first things you see is the windmills, standing tall against the desert landscape. I’ve always wanted to photograph an engagement session with them in the background, and I was so grateful that Jessica and Diego were just as excited as I was. With Mount San Jacinto in the distance, the setting felt both dramatic and timeless—especially as the sun started to set over the mountains, casting the most beautiful golden light.

Palm Springs is not only an incredible place for engagement sessions but also for weddings. With its blend of desert landscapes, modern architecture, and vintage charm, it offers a variety of stunning venues. If you love the mid-century aesthetic, spots like The Parker Palm Springs or The Ace Hotel provide a stylish and retro backdrop. For a more intimate setting, venues like Korakia Pensione or The Sands Hotel offer a romantic, boutique feel. And if you’re dreaming of a breathtaking mountain view, venues near Mount San Jacinto such as The O’Donnell House give you a stunning desert-meets-luxury experience. No matter your style, Palm Springs has a wedding location that will make your day unforgettable.
