Fall Destination Wedding At Bay Pointe Woods
Aaron and Brian’s fall wedding at Bay Pointe Woods was a HUGE highlight of my 2022 wedding season. Before the wedding, talking with Aaron and Brian, I knew they wanted less focus on them and more focus on the people around them. They wanted their non-traditional wedding day to be a to be a big party, and just be in the moment. Spending time with them and their wedding party, it was easy to see how tight knit this group is and the love they all have for each other.
Bay Pointe Woods, which is a secondary venue to Bay Pointe Inn is located at 5100 Oarie Dr, Shelbyville, MI 49344. Bay Pointe Woods invites visitors to an exceptional nature-centric getaway. With a total of eighteen Cottages (arranged in nine buildings, each housing two cottages), one of them being handicap accessible, the retreat offers a blend of modern design and equestrian style.
Crafted to accommodate wedding receptions for up to 300 guests, the Bay Pointe Woods Ballroom stands out as an extraordinary venue featuring modern style elements, high ceilings, and ample natural light. If you're planning a more intimate gathering, the Woods Ballroom can be divided into two distinct spaces—the Laurel Ballroom, hosting up to 200 guests, and the Sycamore Ballroom, catering to events with up to 80 guests.
We started of the day with wedding party portraits, on the docks of Gun Lake and around Bay Pointe Woods. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful, and the weather was insanely warm for the end of October (73 degrees!!) so we took advantage of every second outside. This wedding party was SO MUCH FUN, I was laughing the entire time and the pictures are just hilarious. After photos it was ceremony time, Aaron and Brian chose to walk out together, and wrote each other vows.
Going along with the theme of being non-traditional, Aaron and Brian opted out of doing any formal dances. They gave a toast before dinner, and wanted everyone to dance the night away.
I asked Aaron and Brian how they met, and what was their first date, “Aaron Found Brian on Myspace and drove 2 hours to Kalamazoo to meet. We went out for "Mennas" and hungout at Brian's apartment.” I also asked about their proposal, “Brian Proposed to Aaron on July 2nd 2020 during a trip from New Jersey to Michigan for a weekend with friends. The original plan was foiled because of an early meeting with Aaron's colleagues in Australia. the proposal was at the location we first met in Kalamazoo at 6:30 AM.”
Thank you again Aaron and Brian for having me as your wedding photographer, it was such a joy to celebrate with you and your loved ones!
