Palm Springs, California | 35mm Expired Film Scans
Last month I traveled to Palm Springs for my 30th birthday and also for Modernism Week. I knew I wanted to bring my film camera and capture the beauty of the mountains and of course the Mid Century Modern homes I love so much.
A few years ago, another photographer gave me some expired film and I’ve been waiting for the right moment to use it. The film I used was Mitsubishi Color Film MX-III 400, which expired in January of 2006. The rich warm tones really add to that vintage feel I was hoping for.
The images below are from a few different locations in Palm Springs. The first image (both top and in the gallery section) are from our hotel room. We stayed at The Rowan Kimpton downtown, which was such an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. We also stopped at Moorten Botanical Garden and rode the Palm Springs Arial Tramway up to Mt. San Jacinto State Park. Before we left Palm Springs, we walked around one of my favorite neighborhoods and photographed some of the houses.
Thank you to The Darkroom for developing my roll and sending over the scans pretty quickly. I am in love with these photos.
